Monterey Residence

This waterfront Sarasota home called for a complete landscape transformation; a lush, tropical setting with the polish and low-maintenance ease that waterfront living deserves. Our design-build team reimagined the property from the ground up, pairing architectural specimen palms with layered color and a fully integrated lighting and drainage plan.

We began by clearing tired sod and overgrown material, amending the soil, and rebuilding the planting beds. Towering royal palms and heavy-caliper Adonidia palms establish an instant tropical canopy, underplanted with clusters of areca palm for privacy and screening.

Beneath the palms, a rich mix of flowering tropicals brings year-round color and texture: clusia and cocoplum hedges, gardenia, gold mound duranta, dwarf allamanda, orange bird of paradise, croton, and foxtail fern, accented by bougainvillea trained on trellises for vertical bursts of color. Sweeping drifts of blue daze, moss rose, Angelina sedum, and southern blue flag iris finish the beds and soften the water's edge.

For a clean, carefree lawn, we installed premium artificial turf within the pool fence for easy maintenance. Behind the scenes, three downspout connections with underground piping and pop-up emitters convey stormwater away from the house, and the irrigation was modified to match the new design.

Finally, a custom landscape lighting plan brings the property to life after dark; warm up-lighting to showcase the palms and specimen plantings, plus path and area lighting for safety and ambiance. The result is a true tropical retreat with striking curb appeal, morning to night.
